The Step Sisters are an organization that provides support services (food delivery, transportation, house cleaning) for those impacted by breast cancer. I created the Step Sisters website in 2013 and have been working on their branding and collateral over the years. This year, we’ve added a new logo for their auction, and refreshed the brand identity. Here’s a look at their brand components.
Step Sisters Primary Logo
The Step Sisters’ name is derived from the annual charity race that the group holds. Simply put, a logo should visually communicate the meaning of the company or organization – with or without the use of language or text. The primary Step Sisters icon represents the organization’s name and mission by hiding a shoeprint in the negative space of a pink ribbon (the symbol of cancer awareness). The color pink is also used as a symbol here.
Step Sisters Scramble (Golf Tournament) Logo
My concept for the Step Sisters’ branding was to use the ribbon’s negative space as a branding theme. In the logo for their golf tournament, the space features a golf ball and tee.
Think Pink Auction
The logo for the Step Sisters’ charity auction places an auction gavel in the same area of the icon.
Step Sisters’ Ribbon Run
The Ribbon Run logo has its own distinct format, which foregrounds the ribbon itself and prioritizes the use of text.
